Hiking Burroughs Mountain, July 19, 2003

I found this hike (and several others) in Nelson and Bauer's Best Loop Hikes in Washington. I am rather keen on avoiding retracing my steps (even if we had to do it this time) so I am very pleased with the book.

On July 19, 2003, Dave, Jean and I hiked on the Burroughs Mountain trail in the Mt. Rainier National Park. Due to time and energy constraints, we didn't do the full loop but the great views of Mt. Rainier were worth the 2,700ft climb!

Our route is shown in red on the map. We started at the White River Campground, climbed up the Wonderland Trail, passed near the Sunrise Camp and followed the Burroughs Loop trail to the first Burroughs. Then we had to turn back and return to the camp.
